Adventures in writing.
Friends, Romans, Fl*sters how are we today? I never do new year’s resolutions simply because they only last a couple of days. But I’ve made a promise to myself, I’m going to try and write something every day even if it’s only a comment on someone else’s journal. Having said that after being missing for a week, I’m going to empty my in box and start again from tomorrow. I’m not going to put myself under pressure I’m just going to enjoy myself.

Speaking of writing so far, I’ve managed 1000 words for the Big Bang! That’s a thousand words I’m keeping, I’ve deleted almost as many *G*. And if I miss the 1st May deadline then I’m not going to get stressed about it, I’ll still finish this story

I’ve been getting some inspiration by doing a little bit of reading. I got my hands on one of Steve’s books, a great little crime thriller by the name of Silent Scream by Angela Marson’s who is a local author.

The book is set in my stamping ground of the West Midlands, I recognized a lot of the locations and her detective Kim Stone is a great character. Angela has a great narrative style and she can write the Black Country dialect perfectly.
The book has been inspiring because I kept getting bogged down with crime scene details and research and it struck me, I should be writing my story and stop worrying about if it’s been done before, it doesn’t matter because this is my version and it’s a tale I want to tell.

So, fingers crossed that this year I manage to be more creative, without putting too much pressure on myself. After all this all about enjoying myself and having fun with you guys.

I googled "Black Country." Next, I'll look for samples of the dialect, as well as that book. Thank you for mentioning something new to me.

You're going to have a creative 2018!

The Black Country, the heart of Victorian Industry and the area that gave us Black Sabbath, Robert Plant and most of Judas Priest who says we never contributed to world culture *G* Our dialect is a strange beast, we miss letters off words and mangle vowel sounds with abandon. I like Angela's work it's a good read and she has some pretty visceral moments, both emotional and physical.

Check you out miss thing :D I knew you'd manage it, and 1000 words is not to be sniffed at, believe me. When I wrote Moments Lost I deleted more than I left in the docs, LOL!

LOL! I'm going to have fun this year, and after my post the word count went up to over 2000! It feels like my story now, I've given up on all these posts that tell me where my writing is going wrong and I'm just going for it. And you know what, my muse actually enjoyed herself.

It's never about what's wrong or right in a story, sweetpea - I just did a BigBang where a previous time travelling Sam fell back in love with a present Day Dean, and joined him and an Angel and Demon in trying to bring a very much dead present day Sam, back to life. - It's about the flow, the ebb and flow, the feeling of YES that works, that makes me smile or cry, or just plain pleased with yourself.

Keep going love, it'll come really good :)

That's a great goal, and good to hear - I'll look forward to reading the results!

I'm hoping that I manage to stick to it, if not i'm still going to finish more than one story this year.
