Seriously. WHAT THE FLYING FUCK WORLD.

"File-sharers, beware: By July 12, major US Internet service providers (ISPs) will voluntarily begin serving as copyright police for the entertainment industry, according to Cary Sherman, chief executive of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The so-called “six-strikes” plan is said to be one of the most effective anti-piracy efforts ever established in the US."

The article goes on to give details. After six notices, internet providers will decide to throttle a person's internet speed, or cut it off altogether. I don't know if they will crack down on torrents only, or if it is up to the internet provider. I get the sense it is up to the internet provider. So some people could get away with downloading non torrents, while others might get their internet service cut off. I urge you to click it and read, as we all know people who download.

No more downloading eps of your favorite shows for vidding, gifs, or fanfiction art. No more downloading screencaps possibly. I'm so sorry my friends. I don't even know if BT Guard will work to protect you, but I would google it if I were you. It is a professional service that supposedly can protect you from the invasive eyes of your internet provider.

Just, my friends, please make each other aware. Please be aware of the date JULY 12TH. Mark your calendar and double check with your internet provider by then. If you start receiving notices of downloaded activity, this is why. And your internet service could be throttled or cut off.

I have no voice now this is what this country has been reduce to.
It shames me that corrupt bankers get no responsibility, while a little girl just downloading a Lady Gaga song is hit with a extreme fine.

Do Hollywood actually think we will spend one cent of those bitches if they take away our internet and hit with a fine? Hell No for me.

I totally agree with everything you have just said, and I've been venting my spleen on the very matter!

Once Supernatural is gone I can't see me becoming involved with another show, I'll probably still scribble until they strip me of the right to do that. But this has been my first and probably only fandom, and boy it's been worth every crazy damn second.
spnchick24spnchick24 on March 19th, 2012 08:20 pm (UTC)
Diffidently, even though this fandom drive me crazy at times I wouldn't change it.lol

Yeah im with you the system right now is so screwed up.
Just let all the murderers and Rapist free in lock up the down-loaders for 10 years.

The greedy people need to realize when your albums and movies get passed around, it make people aware of your work. I found plenty of artist on youtube I've never heard of in later bought there albums. Now what are these artist going to do?

This change right here will make Hollywood lose more money, I guess they will find out the hard way.

The English have always been uptight about property, and it is now becoming painfully obvious with the laws of the land today.

They are so concerned with protecting their money, they forget where it came from in the first place, I hate to say it but Big Brother has arrived and any form of creativity must be put down.
spnchick24spnchick24 on March 19th, 2012 11:11 pm (UTC)
Sadly I think Big Brother was watching us for years, but now they got the support to go in take away our freedom.

Many people don't know about this, but they will find out when they get the letters in the mail for the copyright crap.
I'm still fighting this I want this to blow up in the U.S faces.

Just money hungry people looking for a extra 10 cent when they already have millions in the bank.

Sorry for not crediting you, but this really made my blood boil!
Ok I understand the whole pracy thing, but this will kill fandom. Simply because of all the art that will vanish, and the fear of losing our connection to the electronic world, tis a very sad day.
     Mandy: Eleven - Paina_phoenixdragon on March 19th, 2012 01:13 pm (UTC)
Aww, bb - tis all good! As long as the word gets out and a movement gets started!

This is utterly ridiculous and seriously, if they would just make Shows, Movies and Music available at a reasonable price everywhere, they wouldn't even has to do this!! But no...let's stomp all over privacy and the Constitution first, arrghhh! FUCK.

*SNUGGLES YOU CLOSE*

Fuck em!! I'll be as loud as I wanna! I have no idea why this hardcore push to shut down the net, but these neverending bills and amendments all have the same aim (though they say it's to catch child pornographers/pirates/smugglers, etc) to silence us on the Net. Fucktards, arrghhh!!

*HANDS*

No worries and to follow up I let rip with a venting of my spleen!

There will never do that after all they may lose a few dollars profit.

I'll be here until they throw me out of the party, I like splashing around here although my life isn't all that interesting and fandom is why I'm lurking around. But it does mean I've met some awesome people like you *HUGS*

Fuck, I didn't really consider fully the effects that this will have on fandom perhaps since I did not want to envisage such a horrible future. But now you've pointed it out I really do want to do something about this atrocity that our governments have instigated. Fandom truly will be severely dealt a blow after this online policing comes into effect.
sasha_dragonsasha_dragon on March 19th, 2012 08:11 pm (UTC)
I know it's a horrible thought, but I'm sure there is a way to keep fandom alive, we love our shows too much. But it is getting harder and harder to be a fan these days, but if we lie down then they have won, and I won't let go of the boys without a fight!
irismay42irismay42 on March 19th, 2012 06:30 pm (UTC)
Eesh. I guess we could be waiting until next 'summer' (vague Sky Living-like time reference) to see any possible season 8 of Supernatural then...
sasha_dragonsasha_dragon on March 19th, 2012 08:13 pm (UTC)
It is a strong possibility, but if we must we must. There is no way I'll go without those two until there is no other option, it's just seems to be excessive to do this.
L. Vellumlysryu on March 19th, 2012 06:36 pm (UTC)
Holy fucking hell.

And since it's the result of an international trade agreement I suppose even Australians like me will be affected. We can all wave goodbye to our freedom of speech four months from now.

A world where I won't be able to save a funny lolcat image on tumblr without fearing draconic online police breathing down my neck. I cannot bear the thought.
sasha_dragonsasha_dragon on March 19th, 2012 08:15 pm (UTC)
For some strange reason they just seem to want to drain all the joy out of the net, but I won't go down without a fight. Life is way too serious and we all need an outlet, and this is mine.
