So I've Been Thinking.
Friends, Romans, Fl*sters, gather round and pull up a bean bag, chair, or the nearest Winchester to lounge over. I have a theory why the toss pots at Sky Living have dumped our beloved brothers.

Now as I sat bored out of my tiny mind in the office today, I couldn't help but think about what irismay42 said in my post of yesterday. And in case you're wondering I'm still steaming, and may have to go and beat someone up to calm down...... oh Jensen sweetie, where are you trying to run off to? *pulls on chain round his ankle*

It was a comment about demographics, and the fact our show was one of the highest rated on Living.  So I pondered and it slowly dawned, they are cleaning out any 'genre' show on the channel. First they kicked Chuck to the curb, then Teen Wolf and now our boys have fallen victim to Living's rebranding.  I have racked my brain to come up with another genre show, and the closest I got was the NBC and Sky collaboration of Dracula, they screened recently.

Now I don't know if you've seen this version..... well it was very pretty to look at, and at the time it was kind of fun.  But now the dust has setttled and the bosoms have stopped heaving, I wouldn't want to go back and watch it again.  Not to mention NBC don't seem to be rushing to renew this very expensive puppy, I won't even suggest it was a pedigree, but the silence speaks volumes.

Now I could be mistaken, and if any of you lovely ladies can prove otherwise I'd be very interested.  So how is the campaign to get Supernatural on Watch or Sy-fy going?

Honestly, I think part of it is the expense of running new and expensive show. I'm assuming re-runs from ten years ago are cheaper - I mean look how many CSI, Bones and Criminal Minds they show ALL THE TIME - and that's why they're reluctant to show the new ones... Maybe?

Don't get me started about all the repeats, we could be here all night. Who knows why, all I know is it's pissed me off completely.

I don't know whether Sky are trying to go upmarket (Elementary) or want to appeal to the teen crowd, but I agree, they definitely don't want genre fare on their channel or why would they have squirrelled away one of their highest rated shows at 10pm and shown two episodes back to back a week 9 months after the show aired in the US? I think they bought four seasons, like ITV did, thinking it was a 'scary just got sexy' kids show, realised it wasn't, then didn't know what to do with it, in much the same way as ITV2 and The CW under Dawn Ostroff.

I had high hopes when Living first bought SPN. And once again my hopes are dashed.

I guess they've also treated Nikita - which could be interpreted as a genre show - in a similar fashion. When they first bought it, they showed it within weeks of US broadcast. Last season they showed it at stupid o'clock about a year after US broadcast.

I don't think Sky knows what it wants itself. And just like ITV2 they had no idea what to do with Supernatural, the only thing now is I keep getting D/L's from friends and then buy the DVDs.

It still sucks!

Living are going more and more down the crap reality TV route, that's clearly the 'lowest-common-demoninator' demographic they're interested in attracting.

I read on Facebook that apparently Sy-Fy has gone on record as saying they have no plans to pick up Supernatural.

It is getting beyond a joke, and I am wondering about my subscription. It's just Steve really loves the sport and it would be unfair for me to flounce off.

Sy-fy don't want the show? Ahh shit, so that e mail I just sent was useless then.

At least I have friends you will supply me with my drug of choice. I just get paranoid about having my internet cut off because of being caught Down Loading.

But until the day they cut me off at the knees, I'll keep on trying to watch the show any way I can *G*

I'm downloading at the moment, but there's talk of the powers that be clamping down on that stuff with a 'three strikes' policy, so if I do ever get any kind of notice to say I've been rumbled, it'll be a fair cop, and I'll stop!

I was just looking at that, it seems that France the leading backer of the law have scrapped it saying it's impractical. Also if we do go down that route it's looking like it will come after the election next year, if ever.

But like you if I'm caught I'll stop and wait for the DVDs. But we might have a little time yet *G*

No, you're right, they're ditching the genre shows, and they're bastard arsehole offspring spawn of web-toed frogs and three-toed billy goats for doing it! *Ahem* and calm...
