United Stand.
Today I've seen the posts concerning the events in Paris and I've been moved by them. The writers have expressed themselves far more eloquently than I ever could. But I want to add my voice to the call for unity in the face of unspeakable hatred and intolerance.

Once again the world has been visited by evil, and the people of Paris was its victim.  A number of young men filled with misguided religious zeal, stalked the streets and indiscriminately killed anyone unfortunate enough to cross their paths.

I am angry, angry at the hate filled clerics who poisoned the minds of these young men.  They've taken a faith of peace and twisted it into their own ugly image.  These are not men of god, they wouldn’t recognize Allah if he walked up and spoke to them. There is nothing in their hearts but hatred and ignorance.

We must reject their message of hate, they do their best to divide us and make us live in fear jumping at shadows. Today more than ever we all need to stand together, united against the darkness that seeks to engulf us.

My heart goes out to the people of Paris, it goes out to all the victims of Isil, Islamic State or whatever these heartless bullies call themselves, to make them feel important.

United we stand, divided we let them win. And we shall not let them win.

Current Mood: indescribableindescribable

Well said sweetheart, well said, and we're ALL angry! *hugs* but the anger shouldn't be what defines us! Remember that. We're capable of more, and so are these people, and whether or not they get chance, they'll eventually either realise or have to walk away!

Thank you for saying that, I can't help the anger at the moment. It's just me raging at the senseless loss of life, I'll calm down soon.

Okay, I understand that, completely, but these people have been indoctrinated into a belief system that took them by the scruff of the neck and shook them! They are no more to blame than you or I. They were simply caught early and taught that it's the way of life. I personally feel sorry for the loss of life, but also those people who never knew any different and thought it was ok to do this *hugs*

The trouble is, it's a very seductive way of life these young men are offered. Imagine being told you're a warrior for god and your cause is righteous, and not only that there is a wonderful reward waiting for you after you die. Add in the feeling of brotherhood from your fellow warriors and their actions are very understandable.

More people need to get that though! No it is not a great way to live and it creates pain and disharmony, but they have been victimised as much as those people suffering in Paris right now. They lost something the day they signed up and no one was there to point them in the right direction! I simply hate hate, no matter how it comes along!

Ain't that the truth! All they are told is they are glorifying god, not one of them stops to think does god really want me to slaughter innocent people?

*hugs* I hope you're dealing a little easier/better this afternoon? ♥

Hey there,

Sorry for disappearing last night, but I was getting the hairy eyeball of mother dearest.

Yesterday you ran into the version of me who has issues with extremism, I just can't come to terms with it. No matter which faith those type of muppets pretend to represent. *Shakes head* So much hate and violence in the name of god, it's no wonder I don't believe in any 'organized' faith.

But in case you're wondering, I am feeling more zen about the world.

Hey no worries, I know what it's like when you just gotta go ;)

*hugs* Zen is good honey!

Very well said my dear, it was an unspeakable act of extreme violence and I hope the world does exactly what you say here...

"United we stand, divided we let them win. And we shall not let them win."

There is no other way to deal with people like that, they want war and destruction. The best way to defeat them is to stand together and carry on with your life.

Exactly. Their aim is to divide and conquer, so we have to stand together, all faiths and nationalities.

Totally agree with you.
I can only reiterate what I said to Milly:

It's best to do as I was always taught to do when I was growing up in London during the height of the troubles.

Ignore these people, treat them with the contempt they deserve. Don't give them any credibility, because the minute you change one single aspect of your life, or treat one person differently because of them, then they've won.

I totally agree with what you said to Milly. When the troubles were at their height mum banned me from Birmingham, but dad bless him just carried on and went shopping there when the mood took him.

If we live in fear of what might happen, then they have already won, the best way to defeat these people is quite simply "Keep calm and carry on."
