United Stand.
Today I've seen the posts concerning the events in Paris and I've been moved by them. The writers have expressed themselves far more eloquently than I ever could. But I want to add my voice to the call for unity in the face of unspeakable hatred and intolerance.

Once again the world has been visited by evil, and the people of Paris was its victim.  A number of young men filled with misguided religious zeal, stalked the streets and indiscriminately killed anyone unfortunate enough to cross their paths.

I am angry, angry at the hate filled clerics who poisoned the minds of these young men.  They've taken a faith of peace and twisted it into their own ugly image.  These are not men of god, they wouldn’t recognize Allah if he walked up and spoke to them. There is nothing in their hearts but hatred and ignorance.

We must reject their message of hate, they do their best to divide us and make us live in fear jumping at shadows. Today more than ever we all need to stand together, united against the darkness that seeks to engulf us.

My heart goes out to the people of Paris, it goes out to all the victims of Isil, Islamic State or whatever these heartless bullies call themselves, to make them feel important.

United we stand, divided we let them win. And we shall not let them win.

Totally agree with you.
I can only reiterate what I said to Milly:

It's best to do as I was always taught to do when I was growing up in London during the height of the troubles.

Ignore these people, treat them with the contempt they deserve. Don't give them any credibility, because the minute you change one single aspect of your life, or treat one person differently because of them, then they've won.

I totally agree with what you said to Milly. When the troubles were at their height mum banned me from Birmingham, but dad bless him just carried on and went shopping there when the mood took him.

If we live in fear of what might happen, then they have already won, the best way to defeat these people is quite simply "Keep calm and carry on."
