Is This The Perfect Dean Song?
Friends, Romans, Fl*sters, lend me your ears!  And I mean that literally this time, I may have found the perfect Dean Winchester song.  Yes I have said that before with the song Saviour from Black veil Brides, and I stand by what I said. But this one is pure gold!

Ok so earlier today me and the other half where heading out to do the weekly shop, and we were listening to the radio station Planet Rock.  Now seriously this is the kind of Radio station I imagine Dean listening too, it’s wall to wall classic rock.  I mean how can you go wrong when the DJs include Alice Cooper, and Joe Eliot?

The station was doing a poll on songs with the worst lyrics in rock, a kind of a gentle and affection mocking. Because let’s be fair there have been a few stinkers.  When they played this song, and the second I heard it I thought Dean.  It’s the perfect song for Dean, and his one true love.....The Impala!

Fan girls of all ages may I present the Queen Song I'm In Love With My Car.

Isn’t just awesome?  If only I had even a speck of vidding talent, just think of all those moments of Dean with his baby. Surely someone out there has made a vid using this little gem?  If not, why not?

So as you can see I’ve been hard at work on my fic, but I just had to share this with you.

Have a great weekend folks.

I haven't heard "I'm in Love with My Car" in a month of Sundays. We used to play it to tease a friend of mine about his obsession with his 1968 Shelby GT500KR Mustang. Dean, a Chevy man, wouldn't have been impressed.

Let's start a meme-Post a song for Dean's Love Affair with the Impala and the Road Playlist. It would be fun.

Hi there,

it had been along time since I'd heard the song as well, it just really screamed Dean at me.

You know starting a meme is a really good idea, where would you post it and what would we say? I think it would help to pass the hellatus *G*

I don't know; I've only been active in SPN fandom for a short while. You'd have a better idea about where to post.

I'm excited about the meme, and I've already started a list of songs.

Welcome to the fun factory! I will be honest I tend to lurk around the fic sites. But I can think of a couple like dean_sam, or spn_freshblood, as I've said I've never done anything like this. But it could be a lot of fun.
ladyapple27ladyapple27 on August 4th, 2013 11:11 am (UTC)
I started the meme in my journal, and I'll move the posts over to an spn comm.

I just checked out Planet Rock. Awesome! Thanks for mentioning it.
sasha_dragonsasha_dragon on August 3rd, 2013 06:07 pm (UTC)
It's a great station, I've only just started listening to it myself. The station was only available on Digital Radio, but now it's appeared on FM, so I cajn have my fix of rock music whenever I want.
ladyapple27ladyapple27 on August 3rd, 2013 09:21 pm (UTC)
We still have a couple of independent FM classic rock stations. One of them is 95.7 The Ride. Dean would love the name. It used to be my favorite until recent changes in DJs and the playlist.

I'm still upset that The Ride replaced Harriet Coffey, the greatest DJ of all time and a wonderful person. Even before her stint on The Ride, I listened to her show on an oldies station. For many years, I had long drives to and from work, and her voice helped me survive.

I'm passionate about music, which is just one more reason to love Dean and Supernatural.

I wonder what would be on Sam's emo playlist?

sasha_dragonsasha_dragon on August 3rd, 2013 10:30 pm (UTC)
Over here in the UK we don't do rock music (it's all Simon Cowell plastic pop these days). it's almost like a dirty word, so I was overjoyed when I found this station.

and yes the soundtrack was another big drawer for me, as well as our boy Dean *G*

I can only imagine what Sam would listen to *G*

Mr. Cowell never had quite as much influence stateside, thank goodness, and the influence that he does have is waning.

OK, I'm about to go overboard talking about the local music scene. I hope that you will find time to tell me about yours; I'd love to know how it is where you live.

We have a lot of music festivals in the U.S., as well as small town events that feature live music. You can find something to suit everyone.

If you look at a map of the U.S, locate North Carolina, and look in the northwest corner of the state, you'll find Wilkes County where the mountains meet the foothills. Our most popular music event is the Americana/"Traditional-Plus" MerleFest. Country, Blues, R&B, Americana, Traditional, Alternative, and Rock artists come to play.
http://www.merlefest.org/

We also have the infamous ChickenFest. No chickens perform at this free festival; the name is a snarky reference to the local poultry industry. The music is Americana, and chicken dishes are the only food sold at the concession stands. http://www.cacwilkes.org/2006_chickenfest.htm

Singing in the Foothills, which benefits a children's home, is billed as the "largest outdoor Southern Gospel Music Event in America."

There's always shagging, too. BWAH-ha-ha-not the kind of shagging that you're familiar with! The shag is a dance done to Beach Music, which has nothing to do with the Beach Boys or surfing. I've heard Beach Music described as a "regional variant of Rhythm and Blues," and that's pretty close. There are a handful of Beach Music songs that also show up on Northern Soul playlists. Yeah, I do know what Northern Soul is. Anyhow, I don't shag, but I do like Beach Music, which got its name from the vacation spots on the coasts of the Carolinas where an audience of mostly white teenagers and young adults first began to gather, buy R&B 45s by mostly Black artists, and go dancing. Beach Music helped pave the way for integration, and it sounds good, too.

I can picture poor Dean, on the road in North or South Carolina, perking up when some hot chick invites him to shag, only to find out that it doesn't involve getting laid;) LOL-Dean dancing! Y'know, it might not be too bad; in shag dancing, all the movement is in the hips.

There's a movie called "Shag," but it's really awful. The dancing is atrocious, and isn't even shagging, and the music isn't real Beach Music. Worse, the depiction of teenagers in the South in the early 60s is woefully inaccurate.

Rock is everywhere-Metal, Southern Rock, you name it. I once went to a Southern Rock concert held in a converted chicken house. It was awesome. Sam would have hidden in the tool shed.

Oh, and there are fiddler's conventions. The one in Happy Valley is just a few minutes from my house, one one of the neighbors' farms. http://www.happyvalleyfiddlers.com/

The best event on the Jones Farm is Plow Day, though.

It has antique plows pulled by horses and mules, and you walk among them. There's also a barn dance in a century-old big white barn. Yeah, a century-old building is pretty old over here. You Brits wouldn't be all that impressed, though.

Dean would love a cruise-in, which is basically a chance for owners to show off their classic cars and listen to live music. He could show off his baby, find some greasy food, and talk about his baby to a rapt audience for hours.

Sam would die of boredom, but there's always a farmer's market nearby. Unfortunately for Sam, our farmer's markets usually have live music, but never emo. Ah well, we do have the best apples in the world. We even have a festival: http://www.applefestival.net/applefestival.asp?page_id=apptext
Note the pre-festival music event, the Apple Jam. Corny, but cute.

sasha_dragonsasha_dragon on August 5th, 2013 06:31 pm (UTC)
Thank goodness that Mr Cowell's influence is on the wane. Wow so many fun festivals, and I'm sure Dean would most of these. And Sam would probably head for the hills during a couple of them.

I've been watching your ever growing list of songs for Dean, and I approve they're all brilliant.
ladyapple27ladyapple27 on August 8th, 2013 05:38 pm (UTC)
Sam would stoop to wiring a car to get away!

Thank you. I've had fun choosing the songs. BTW, Blackberry Smoke does awesome live concerts.
ladyapple27ladyapple27 on August 4th, 2013 04:53 am (UTC)
LOL-Sam's music will never be allowed in the Impala, regardless of who's driving!

BTW, ever you ever seen the U.S. version of the Voice? I watched some of the British version online, and the way the judges interacted was different. We have the Adam Levine/Blake Shelton bromance/rivalry going on, with a side of CeeLo showmanship. Christina Aguilera gets on my nerves, though.

I've never watched any of Cowell's many versions of Idol or X-Factor. I hear that there's no bromance or guest appearances by CeeLo's cockatoo and cat.
sasha_dragonsasha_dragon on August 5th, 2013 06:34 pm (UTC)
That's very true Sam would never get his music played.

I haven't seen the U.S. version of The Voice, but it sounds a lot more entertaining than ours, we do have a very nasty habit of taking ourselves too seriously during these shows.

sasha_dragonsasha_dragon on August 9th, 2013 10:55 pm (UTC)
Ok your judges are way more fun than ours!

Who knows one day there maybe classic rock Sam likes.
ladyapple27ladyapple27 on August 10th, 2013 03:59 am (UTC)
If Sam actually does like any classic rock, he'd never let Dean know. I can picture him hiding somewhere, listening to Blind Faith and eating junk food.

"Dean must never know," he thinks as he adjusts the volume and bites into a Double Decker Moon Pie.

Have Moon Pies ever made it to the UK?

You have no idea how big the smile is on my face right now! I adore Queen, adore Roger's voice on this track and I adore Dean. I think I love you a little bit more now, too! :p

If you find a vid, make sure you link it, yeah? :D
sasha_dragonsasha_dragon on August 9th, 2013 10:58 pm (UTC)
You know when I wrote the entry, I thought of you! My other half is a huge Queen fan, and the lucky bugger managed to see them in concert too, and yes jealous doesn't cover it *G*.

I love Roger's voice on this track too, and you know just how much I love Dean, and thank you for saying that *squishes*

I promise if I ever find a vid you'll be the first to know.
